Learn About My Interest in the Indian Classical Arts! (Aug 2014-Present)

Born to immigrant parents, I often felt disconnected from my South Indian heritage and struggled to grasp the significance of our cultural traditions. However, the Indian classical arts offered me a way to embrace my culture and bridge the gap between these worlds. Through the intricate rhythms of Carnatic music and the expressive storytelling of Kuchipudi, I gained a deeper understanding of Hindu culture, and I'm excited to share this part myself with you!

Veda vinayaka

The Carnatic song Veda Vinayaka is a song praising the Hindu god Ganesha. Fun fact, Ganesha is the remover of obstacles, so when Hindu people are facing obstacles in their lives, they pray to Ganesha.

Jathiswaram

The dance Jathiswaram is a rythmic piece in Carnatic music and consists of purely dance movements.

Jayamu Jayamu

The dance Jayamu Jayamu is a dance paying obeisance to Goddess Saraswathi, Gurus (teachers), poets, composers, musicians, and the audience.

Kulukaka Nadavaro

The dance Kulukaka Nadavaro is a dance describing the scene of Goddess Alamelumanga being carried in a palanquin by her maids, who are reminded to walk gently because their swaying motion is causing the flowers from her hair to fall down.

Sree Saraswathi Namosthuthe

The dance Sree Saraswathi Namosthuthe is a devotional piece to the Hindu goddess Saraswathi. Fun fact, the goddess Saraswathi is the Goddess of Learning in the Hindu religion!
